“Sacred Heart Educators are all adult members of a school community, including faculty, staff, and administrators. We call all adults working within Sacred Heart learning communities educators because all affect the formation of the children and adolescents who are the students in the school. Whether a classroom teacher or a member of a support service team or a coach or a member of institutional advancement, all adults accepted the invitation to be a Sacred Heart Educator for many reasons, one of which is the instinctive sense of connection to the community.”
Educators of the Heart is a year-long series of virtual professional development eSeminars designed by Sacred Heart educators for
Sacred Heart educators. In the spring of 2023, the Network announced a call for proposals and invited all adult community members in schools to consider applying.
As Sacred Heart learning communities, we are united by St. Madeleine Sophie’s vision of education and our shared mission as articulated in the Goals and Criteria. Our work in education is unique as it calls us to accompany students as they develop the skills and values necessary to live a meaningful life past their time at school. Similarly, our mission reminds us of our own responsibility to grow as professionals and challenge ourselves as life-long learners.
As the landscape of education continues to evolve, our role as educators, our own professional growth and how we accompany students must also evolve. We are the beneficiaries of a steadfast commitment to education and an understanding of how we educate, brought forth by our Founding Mothers. Moreover, we are the beneficiaries of a Network of Sacred Heart Schools, and as a result educators, established by the revolutionary vision of several Religious of the Sacred Heart in the 1970s, who recognized the need to unite as one larger Sacred Heart community.
We are blessed with so many incredibly talented, knowledgeable and innovative professionals who are committed to our mission and share it across a multitude of disciplines, professional practices and daily life at school. So, rather than learn from other agencies, let’s celebrate the unique nature of our Network and learn from members of our larger Sacred Heart family!
This is a new initiative brought to you by the Network of Sacred Heart Schools and we are delighted to launch this new series with 16 eSeminars for Sacred Heart educators to choose from. All sessions will be free for participants.
