All students in South Huntington Union Free School District in Kindergarten through Grade 12 receive a Chromebook to utilize in school. Teacher discretion is used for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 to send devices home. Students in Grades 6-12 will bring their device to school and home, daily. All students have been issued a Chromebook and charger. Chromebook cases should remain on devices at all times.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, parents/guardians are offered optional Chromebook insurance through Worth Ave for $21 per student annually to covers accidental damage, cracked screens, spills, liquid submersion, fire, flood, natural disasters, power surges, vandalism, and mechanical failure, allowing for unlimited claims. The insurance policy must be purchased by October 10, 2025.
Accidental Damage (With Insurance): The repair is fully covered by Worth Ave. insurance (unlimited claims).
Accidental Damage (Without Insurance): There will be a $40 fee per repair instance.
Intentional Damage (With or Without Insurance): Intentional damage is not covered by the insurance. The repair fee is $40.
In the case of a known issue related to device specific issues by the manufacturer, the repair will be covered by the District.
All fees can be paid by credit card or e-check through Campus Parent or by cash or check in your child's school's main office.
District Chromebooks are monitored using GoGuardian during school hours.
