Homework

Homework consists of at least 15 minutes of independent work on personalized iReady "My Path" lessons according to following schedule:

Monday - math

Tuesday - reading

Wednesday - math

Thursday - reading

Additionally, all students are required to complete a "Fluency Flight" in iReady every night from Monday through Thursday.

Students who fall short of meeting the weekly goals of 30 minutes in math and 30 minutes in reading (during a typical full week of school) will make up missed time during iReady Math Learning Games and/or "free choice" Chromebook time during the school day on Friday.

Please note the following:

*Students should not surpass these weekly goals by much. Too much screen time, even beneficial screen time, is not encouraged. 

*Adjustments will be made as necessary (and announced) to accommodate unusual circumstances based on days off from school, testing sessions, etc. Please check students' agendas.

*The weekly schedule for completion is a suggestion. It can be modified in order to accommodate busy schedules - as long as the weekly goals are met by Friday.

*Fluency Flights must be completed every day. The program does not allow students to do more than one on any given day, so doubling up is not possible.

*Students looking for a challenge may play iReady Math Learning Games or work on iReady lessons in either subject for a bit longer than the required goal (but again, please, not too long - over an hour is just too much screen time).

*While it's not a homework assignment for which they will be held accountable in school, students should be reading every day - either independently, with a family member, or ideally a combination of both. They should also be discussing what they read. This will encourage active reading and help students further develop good reading habits.
