We will learn and practice the following:

• The difference between translating and interpreting, and the skill set required for each

• Foundations of translating and interpreting 

• The Code of Ethics: 8 Ethical Principles for Interpreters and Translators

• Practice translating and interpreting in the school system, legal system, and medical system

• Vocabulary relevant to school, legal, and medical contexts

• The real-life professional experiences of several guest speakers who work as translators and/or interpreters in each of the three main career fields

• The requirements for pursuing a career as a translator and/or interpreter
