Coursework and Reading Overview

• Short Story Unit- we will practice close reading of approximately four short stories 

• Full-length fictional novels:

  1. The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

  2. The Contender by Robert Lipsyte

  3. I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys

• Essay writing and analysis-we focus on claims, relevant evidence, and format

• Odell Nonfiction Unit- to strengthen our close-reading skills and ability to form a claim

• Writing assignments- constructed response and literary reflections

• In-class assignments and homework
