Dear Boys and Girls,
Welcome to Maplewood Intermediate School and third grade! You should be so proud that you reached this milestone in your life. I am thrilled that you will be a member of my class this year. I know that we will have an exciting and memorable year together.
Third grade offers a variety of wonderful experiences and opportunities. We will explore many avenues in class this year. In science we will conduct experiments and learn about balancing forces, adaptations, weather and climate, and environment and survival. In Social Studies we will learn about the history and culture of communities around the world. During math we will be learning multiplication and division. We will also take the time to see how math relates to everyday life and the real world. In English Language Arts we will be reading lots of great stories and creating many wonderful writing pieces in our writer’s workshop sessions.
I will make every attempt to make third grade an exciting learning experience. Remember, your part is to stay organized, motivated, and ask as many questions as possible. My expectations are that you always work to your fullest potential. In order to get the school year off to the right start, we will need to be prepared and organized. I have provided a list of supplies you will need for the school year. Try to get your supplies early to avoid the September rush!
I hope you are having a safe and wonderful summer. Try to set some time aside each day to read! I look forward to meeting you in September!
With warmest regards,
Mrs. Trapani
