It is important to remember that all studying should not be done the night right before a test. Instead, as your child is learning the material, he/she should be studying it for short periods every night. This way he/she will be better prepared for the test.

Es importante acordarse que estudiando para un examen no se debe de hacer solamente la noche antes de un examen. Su hijo/hija debe de estar estudiando el material todas las noches por periodos cortos. Así estará mejor preparado/a para el examen.

One great way to help your child develop study habits is to use index cards. Have your child write a vocabulary word or a question from a review sheet or their notes on one side of the index card. On the other side, have your child write the answer. He/She can then study these cards independently and flip the card over to check if they are correct.

Una buena manera de ayudar a su hijo/a estudiar es con el uso de tarjetas. Pídele a su hijo/hija que escriba una palabra de vocabulario o una pregunta de repaso de sus notas en un lado de la tarjeta. En el otro lado, su hijo/hija debe de escribir la respuesta. Él/Ella puede estudiar estas tarjetas independientemente y ver si tiene las respuestas correctas.

Change studying into a game! Using the index cards that your child has developed (see index card note for more information), play a round of Jeopardy. Give your child the answer and have him/her tell you the vocabulary word or the question that is being answered. You can give points for correct responses and reward your child with a special treat for reaching a set number of points. Have fun!
