Syllabus:
**All students should know what is expected of them. Here are the rules and requirements you are expected to follow.**
In the Life Skills Vocational Transition Program students will practice and develop skills that are necessary in real life. Students will be focusing on functional and community based vocabulary pertaining to everyday life in order to be most successful. Students will learn to read information for understanding and comprehension. They will be learning the importance of how to follow directions, navigate the kitchen, their jobs, schedules etc. They will be participating in various jobs around the school as well. Students will be having the opportunity to work in the Wildcat Cafe where they will be taking orders, prepping, cooking, delivering food to staff, and completing monetary transactions. In this program we take frequent trips in the community to learn specific skills in which they will need to become successful members of the community. Some of the topics students will work on are understanding how to read paychecks, write checks, handle money, interpret schedules, read and cook recipes, read and order from menus, read directories, guides, maps, nutrition labels, emails, websites, labels, and packaging. Also, students will be mirroring tasks that they do at their job coaching placements, so that they are most successful at their worksite. As always, we will be addressing individual IEP reading goals.
