Dear Students,
Welcome to third grade at Maplewood Intermediate! Our names are
Mrs. Rubino and Mrs. Dulberg. We will be your teachers this year. We are very excited to meet you and have you in our class. We are looking forward to a wonderful year together!
Third grade is an exciting year. We will be learning about forces, the continents, China, multiplication, and division. We will also be reading many interesting stories and writing many of our own as well.
We are looking forward to meeting you and beginning our adventure together. Here is a list of materials you will need for your school year. Please ask an adult to label all of your supplies with your first and last name along with the book label. We will see you in September. Don’t forget to bring a great big smile!
SUPPLY LIST
1. 1 black and white marble notebook (see back page)
2. 4 plastic 2 pocket folders with specific colors (labeled “Homework”
(orange), “Math”(green), “Reading/ELA” (red), and
“S.S./Science”(blue))
3. Two large boxes of tissues
4. 1 bottle of liquid soap with pump
5. One box of wipes “Wet Ones”
6. Classroom Party Fund ($15)
7. One white hard (1 inch) 3-ring binder
8. One SOFT pencil case with the following supplies:
-36 sharpened Ticonderoga pencils in a labeled zip lock bag
-3 large erasers
-1 green highlighter and 1 yellow highlighter
-1 pencil sharpener (with cap to catch shavings)
9. One HARD pencil case with the following supplies
-1 box of 24 crayons
-2 glue sticks
-1 box of colored pencils
-1 pair of scissors
10. Two pairs of headphones in labeled bags

Dear Parents,
This summer our building is implementing a summer writing assignment. We are asking that each student decorate a marble notebook, both front and back cover, and bring it to school on the first day of school in September.
We are hoping that you and your child will spend this summer completing this assignment. The notebook should reflect your child’s personality and can include, but is not limited to:
· Pictures/photographs of the family, friends, pets, and places you have visited
· Ticket stubs, parts of maps, or postcards of places you have visited
· Favorite sports teams, authors, music, shows
· Photos of trophies, or important objects, toys, or stuffed animals that can not
physically fit on a notebook
· Drawings, clip art, or magazine clippings of your child’s favorite things
This is to encourage and remind your child to write about important people, places, and events in their life. Once the notebook is decorated, please cover it with contact paper so that the artifacts stay intact.
We are also asking that you have your child write three entries throughout the summer about something important that has happened. This will enable storytelling to begin on the very first day of school, when children can share about their summer, and build a community of learners.
We are looking forward to getting to know your child in the fall, and this wonderful opportunity to foster the home school connection.
