Course Description
This college-level science course will build on concepts learned in biology and chemistry. It will focus specifically on human anatomy and physiology. Through lectures, labs, and activities, students will learn how the structures (anatomy) of the human body fit their function (physiology) to maintain homeostasis of the organism and continue the species. All twelve human body systems will be included, as well as the types of tissue and cell chemistry. You will use the Anatomage Table (a cutting edge virtual dissection tool) to learn and explore the human body through advanced 3D technology.

Course Grades
Grades will be updated regularly on Infinite Campus. Please check Infinite Campus for missing assignments and for all your grades.
College Credit –Long Island University
Every student has the opportunity to earn up to 6 college credits through LIU. During the first half of the year you can earn 3 credits (September-December) and the second half of the year you can earn another 3 credits (January-June). You can choose to take the class for college credit. It’s not mandatory. Please click on the link below to register for the LIU High School Scholars program. Please complete the form by the first week of school. This link is just to register through the school and you don’t have to pay for college credits at this time. https://apply.liu.edu/newscale/
* Both courses will require a $290 fee in September and January
General Classroom Guidelines
Give your best effort. Come to class prepared with all materials, pay attention and be involved in class activities, and complete all assignments on time.
Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
Respect other people and their property. Listen when others are talking; no putdowns or profanity; be polite to teacher and students; do not write on desks or chairs; return borrowed property. Following this rule will help maintain a positive learning environment.
Class disruptions will not be tolerated.
Follow all other school rules. Cell phones must be stored in your locker for the duration of the day.
Late work: Assignments must be turned in on time for full credit. Late work will be graded for half-credit.
Absences: If your absence is excused, you will be given 2 days to make up the assignment for full credit. If you have an unexcused absence or tardy, you will receive 50% credit for work completed for all class work missed and will be held responsible for knowledge of class work covered during your absence.
If you are absent on the day of a lab, you come in during lunch or after school to make up the lab or complete an alternate assignment. The lab must be made up within one week upon your return to school.
Cheating policy: Any copying or cheating will cause your grade to be recorded as a "0" for that assignment with no chance to make it up and your parent will be contacted. This includes daily assignments, labs, projects, quizzes and tests.
