Classroom:
All students are to be in class on time. You must have with you a notebook, Chromebook and pen everyday.
Notebook:
***Chromebook - You will be taking notes on your chromebook, however if you prefer to write your notes that is acceptable.
Your notebook can be whatever you are comfortable with using.
Your notebook is to be neat and accurate.
All notes, handouts and homework are to be kept in your notebook (this year most of your handouts, HW and Labs will all be digital)
When you are absent your notes will be available on Google Classroom.
Notebooks will be checked and graded at the end of each quarter as a quiz.
Participation : (Do Nows, Exit Tickets, HWs, and other classwork)
15% of the quarter grade
Homework will be assigned on a daily basis
Homework assignments will be found on the front board and listed on Google Classroom. Please copy the assignment into your agenda book.
All homework assignments are due the next day.
If you are absent you must make up the homework assignments that you missed.
Labs:
20% of the quarter grade
1200 acceptable lab minutes must be recorded before a student may take the Regents exam.
Labs will be graded based on the reports, techniques and participation.
A failure to complete a cumulative 70% of lab reports will result in failing for the quarter.
Test and Quizzes:
65% of the quarter grade
Tests will be announced in advance (55%)

Course Description
This college-level science course will build on concepts learned in biology and chemistry. It will focus specifically on human anatomy and physiology. Through lectures, labs, and activities, students will learn how the structures (anatomy) of the human body fit their function (physiology) to maintain homeostasis of the organism and continue the species. All twelve human body systems will be included, as well as the types of tissue and cell chemistry. You will use the Anatomage Table (a cutting edge virtual dissection tool) to learn and explore the human body through advanced 3D technology.

College Credit –Long Island University
Every student has the opportunity to earn up to 8 college credits through LIU. During the first half of the year you can earn 4 credits (September-December) and the second half of the year you can earn another 4 credits (January-June). You can choose to take the class for college credit. It’s not mandatory. Please click on the link below to register for the LIU High School Scholars program. Please complete the form by the first week of school. This link is just to register through the school and you don’t have to pay for college credits at this time. https://apply.liu.edu/newscale/
* Both courses will require approximately $280 fee. $560 for 8 credits
General Classroom Guidelines
Give your best effort. Come to class prepared with all materials, pay attention and be involved in class activities, and complete all assignments on time.
Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings.
Respect other people and their property. Listen when others are talking; no put downs or profanity; be polite to teacher and students; do not write on desks or chairs; return borrowed property. Following this rule will help maintain a positive learning environment.
Class disruptions will not be tolerated. (Examples: Talking, getting up out of your seat to throw away trash, throwing things across the room, or sharpening your pencil while I am talking.)
Follow all other school rules. Cell phones being used during class will be confiscated and returned at the end of class. If a 2nd offense occurs, the item will be taken away and turned in to an administrator.
Late work: Assignments must be turned in on time for full credit. Late work will be graded for half-credit.
Absences: If you are absent on the day of a lab, speak with your teacher to discuss makeup.
Anatomage Lab Day Policy: All students are expected to report to the Forum on designated lab day. Students will obtain a copy of the lab and a clip board and sit in the first three rows. Students will be randomly assigned to a particular table and instructed on how to start the lab. Cell phones should be left in the backpack.
