Each week, Birchwood gives a word of the week to the 5th grade that goes along with the worksheet.
1. Complete the Webster's Wall worksheet with the word of the week
2. Share with me by Friday.
3. You will earn participation points!

Index cards/Tarjetas
One great way to help your child develop study habits is to use index cards. Have your child write a vocabulary word or a question from a review sheet on one side of the index card. On the other side, have your child write the answer. He/She can then study these cards independently and flip the card over to check if they are correct.
Una buena manera de ayudar a su hijo estudiar es con el uso de tarjetas. Pídele a su hijo/hija que escriba una palabra de vocabulario o una pregunta de repaso en un lado de la tarjeta. En el otro lado, su hijo/hija debe de escribir la respuesta. Él/Ella puede estudiar estas tarjetas independientemente y ver si tiene las respuestas correctas.
Jeopardy
Change studying into a game! Using the index cards that your child has developed (see index card note for more information), play a round of Jeopardy. Give your child the answer and have him/her tell you the vocabulary word or the question that is being answered. You can give points for correct responses and reward your child with a special treat for reaching a set number of points. Have fun!
¡Cambia el estudiar en un juego! Usando las tarjetas que ha creado su hijo/hija (mira la nota que dice tarjetas), juega Jeopardy. Dígale a su hijo/hija la respuesta y pídele que le de la palabra o la pregunta de cual le diste la respuesta. Dele puntos a su hijo/hija por respuestas correctas y regálale un premio por llegar a ciertos puntos.
Scavenger Hunt/Juego de Rebuscar
Similar to the index card method of studying, put important vocabulary or information on one index card. Then have your child write the answers on a separate index card. Spread the answers around the house and let the games begin! Have your child search the house for the correct answer to a question on one of the cards. Studying is a lot more fun when it is a game!
Similar a usando tarjetas para estudiar, pídele a su hijo/hija que ponga información importante en una tarjeta. Depués, pídele a su hijo/hija que escriba la respuesta en otra tarjeta. Distribuye las tarjetas por toda la casa. Pídele a su hijo que busque la respuesta a una de las preguntas que esté escrita en una de las tarjetas. ¡Estudiando es más divertido cuando es un juego!
