Grades V and VI 

Students entering Grade V

are required to read a minimum of 4 books of their choice over the summer. 

Books on the state's 2025-2026 Massachusetts Children's Book Award (MCBA) list are marked.

The library will challenge all fifth graders to read at least 5 MCBA books between now and April so they can vote on the winner in the spring. 

Students entering Grade VI

are required to read the book they were given at the end of the year as well as 3 additional books of their choice over the summer.  

New students should also read 1 of the five books in the blue bar at the bottom of the page as well as 3 additional books of their choice.
