I believe behavior is part of a childs growth and development as well as a focus on the importance for students to take accountability in their choices. Students' are going to make mistakes from time to time and that is absolutely okay! Mistakes are how we learn and grow! We expect students to be using their C.A.R.E.S. (Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy and Self-Control) daily while at school. When a student is showing behaviors that don't follow CARES, classroom rules or/and our respect agreement students will be given a total of 2 reminders to fix their behavior if it happens a 3rd time staff will give them a warning. Students will be given a consequence for any warnings they recieve for the remainder of the school day. These warnings and consequences are not negative but are in place to help, guide and teach students how to reflect on their actions and come up with solutions to make better choices. Calendars on the back of student folders will give you an idea of how many warnings and how your child did at school for that day. Student behavior calendars are not discussed or shown to other students but are a way of communicating with families about how your child did at school each day. Please check calendars everynight to be aware of your students' behavior at school and to have conversations at home around school behavior. If a student recieves more than 5 warnings in a day a letter will be sent home to families. If this happens please review the letter with your child, sign and return it to school the next day.
