Units of Study

We will focus on 6 units of study throughout each trimester.  

1. Music Theory and Composition

This unit will focus on learning to read and write music notation.  We will be learning about notes, rhythms, key signatures, scales, musical forms, and intervals. 

2. Music Performance

This unit will focus on using our music theory knowledge to perform on ukuleles, percussion instruments, and/or body percussion. 

3. World Music

This unit will focus on the world outside of traditional Western music history.   

4. Western Music

This unit will focus on the history of Western Music, from the Baroque Period to the present day.  

5. Music Appreciation

This unit will focus on the elements of music, careers in music, and music across generations.

6. Music Evaluation, Analysis, and Critique

This unit will focus on listening critically to music and being able to analyze and critique musical performances using elements of music knowledge.
