Meet the Teacher
Welcome to Mrs. Walker's Kindergarten Class!
My name is Martine Walker; this is my tenth year teaching kindergarten at Seven Hills Preparatory Academy. I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from the College of St. Scholastica, achieved my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instructions from St. Kate's, and recently completed a certificate program at St. Scholastica for Culturally Responsive Pedagogy. Kindergarten is such a fantastic grade to teach. The kids are so eager to learn and grow; every day is a new and exciting experience!
Students in my class learn to love learning and facing new challenges. I want my students to feel successful and confident in their learning. We try new things, make many new friends, and find a learning opportunity in any situation. I am dedicated to enriching students' lives and helping them grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally.
I am also recently married! Dallas and I had a small summer wedding on our farm in June 2018 and we welcomed our first baby in January of 2020 and are currently expecting our second child, a girl, in July of 2022. Outside of school, I like to read, watch movies, and be outside whenever possible. I love to go horseback riding. In any spare moment I may have, I am at the barn working on my horsemanship with my horses, Pebbles and Cash, and playing with my puppies, Rexa and Dyna! I also have a pet pig named Myla! She loves to do tricks. I also love to read. I do not stick to one genre, but like to read books from a variety of authors and styles. Books have so much to teach us, especially when we least expect it.
I just love teaching kindergarten! We will be making new friends, new discoveries, and new memories every day!
