Middle School Grammar

Welcome Grammarians and Families!

This is my eighth year teaching Grammar, and I am so excited to work with your young scholars.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child(ren), please feel free to contact me at school (mdoyle@shpamn.org).

Some general information:

Grammar is a trimester class, so students will only have it one trimester each year at Seven Hills. Our students complete their studies in a workbook, Practical Grammar, which focuses on labeling and diagramming the parts of a sentence. 

In sixth grade, we focus on basic parts of speech, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure. In seventh grade, we continue with sixth grade content and add verbal phrases and verb tenses. Finally, in eighth grade we discuss clauses and overall composition.  You can find copies of the workbook for each grade below.
