Language Connections is a class that aims to do just as the name states: make connections. Throughout this trimester-long course, students will make both cross-curricular connections and connections with the world around them. This class challenges students to utilize and further develop skills from other classes like ELA, Latin, and Social Studies in a singular class. These connections will be made through Socratic discussions, whole-class, and small-group texts related to a grade-specific theme. In the second half of the trimester, students will split into lit circle groups where they will read a novel associated with the equity-related topic for that course. Throughout the trimester, students will be acquiring new vocabulary that is derived from Latin or Greek roots in order to get a better understanding of the classical origins of many of the words in the English language.
