Family-Friendly Celebration of Bodhi Day, Followed by Potluck and Board Meeting. New date!
Sunday, Dec. 8
10:00 am
at Show Me Dharma Center (aslo hybrid)
1600 W. Broadway, Columbia, Missouri
Please join us on Sunday, Dec 1 at 10:00 for a celebration of Bodhi Day, a holiday that commemorates the Buddha’s enlightenment. The Show Me Dharma Teachers Collective will lead the sangha in a brief meditation, in taking the Three Refuges honoring the Triple Gems (the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha), and in chanting the Five Precepts in English and in Pali, the ancient language of Buddhism. Then we will do a cording ceremony, wrapping a piece of thread around one wrist to remind us of our Buddhist path (we will provide the thread for those attending in person, folks on Zoom can supply their own thread or string).
Family and friends are welcome, all parts of the celebration are optional, and people bringing children are welcome to stay for part of the event, or to come in and out as needed.
Feel free to bring a vegetarian dish to share for the potluck (please bring a label with ingredients for people with allergies).
Following the potluck we will have a brief membership meeting to vote on new and renewing Board of Trustee members for Show Me Dharma.
Dharma and Democracy Forum with Mary Jo
Sundays, 3-4 p.m. on Zoom
Dear friends,
On November 5th our country entered a new chapter in its evolution as a democracy. Projections into the future abound regarding how we individually, collectively as a nation and globally as a world will be impacted by the results of this election.
To rise and meet this moment, we can, in Roshi Halifax's words, cultivate a strong back and soft front. Love is the most important muscle in transformation. In this moment, what is love asking?
Please join our monthly forum: Dharma and Democracy, facilitated by Mary Jo Bennett. We will meet the first Sunday of each month @3-4pm CST on Zoom.
Please join us online via Zoom (password: showme) Sundays 3:00-4:00 pm Central Time beginning Dec 1
