Shotover Wetland Squad Goals (from the kids)
1. Get Our Hands Muddy - Be involved in improving our environment.
2. Help the native plants (flora) and animals (fauna) flourish.
3. Share our project with others in our community.
4. Monitor the area for a long time (water levels, plant growth, pests, usage etc).
What the children plan on achieving between now (mid Term 2 and the end of Term 3)
First is to come up with some signs so that members of the public can find the Wetlands when coming by car or on foot. We also need to design simple information signs that inform the public about what we are doing. We are working with QLDC so that our designs are up to specification.
At school we will need to replant our seedlings as they are growing out of their root trainers and will need to be in pots. These plants should be ready for planting out in September 2018.
