MASKS OPTIONAL

As you know, Lake Bluff dropped the mask mandate. Lots of people are happy about this, but there are also a lot of people who have different opinions on it. In this article, you can hear students share their opinions about dropping the mandate!

The kids in Ms. Manke's 2nd grade class thinks that having no masks is better. They say that it is more comfortable. They also like that you can have an option to wear masks. They do think that cases might go up though, but they think that's okay. Thank you Ms. Manke!

The kids in Mr. Fendos's class thinks that it is fine to do whatever you want. They think it is cool to see people's faces. They think that it’s nice to breathe fresh air. Especially since with masks your germs get trapped in the mask.

The kids in Ms. Dean's 4th grade class have mixed opinions. Anna thinks that it isn’t good because her family has to visit her Grandma and Grandpa and she wants to keep them safe. Shaan says that it is fine. He thinks it is good to see people's faces. He thinks it's fun to breathe. I agree. Anna thinks that the numbers will get higher and then we will all have to go back to wearing masks. Shaan thinks life is going to be great. Good to know. Moving on.

Francecsa and Maddy think that it is amazing to see people's faces! Maddy thinks that Covid will soon end since cases are low. Francesca thinks that absolutely nothing will happen.

Next, we have Joel, Isla, Ada, Drake and Margret in Mr. Rosen's 4th grade class. They think that it is good to have an option so people can feel comfortable. Margret thinks that people are going to be happier and not die. Isla thinks that the cases might go up a little but then things will go back to normal. Joel thinks there will be more cases of Covid. Ada thinks it’s good that we don’t need masks and she thinks nothing will happen. Thank you 4th graders!

Tala in Ms. Walton's 3rd grade class thinks that not having to wear masks is comfortable. She likes that you don't get hot anymore without them. She thinks that we are going to have to wear masks again since it might spread. Especially since germs spread in other ways.

Violet in Ms. Walton's 3rd grade class likes it because masks can easily get moist and it isn’t comfortable. She is just happy that we don’t have to wear them anymore, but at the same time she is kind of worried that someone close to her could get Covid because most people in her class don’t wear masks. She thinks the virus will spread really quickly if a lot of people don’t wear masks since covid is still around. So in that case she thinks we should still be safe.

Emma in Ms. Waltons 3rd grade class thinks that not having to wear masks is fine, but she feels like the cases will go up and we all will need to wear masks again. The only thing that she doesn’t like is that it’s weird seeing people's faces that you haven’t seen before. It’s just really different from what you imagined. We’ve also been used to wearing masks so it feels just weird having it off. So it is nice to pull your mask down without getting in trouble. Thanks Emma!
