Hi Lake Bluff students, I am Georgia, a fellow Lake Bluff student. We always loved dressing up for Halloween, but do we ever think about where Halloween started?
Well, I'm here to tell you Halloween started in the tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain.
Now we have a brief history of Halloween. We think a little differently, at least I do. I know that dressing up is super fun. The most line cutting this year has been Cruella DeVille but because of the newly famous movie usually kids pick their outfits on movies that they like or game.
I know my friend is dressing up as an animal because it's her favorite animal. There are lots of different ways to dress up for Halloween. I hope you all have a great Halloween!
