Tennis

Do you play tennis? I play tennis. It is quite easy, well kinda. Lots of people think it is that you just hit a ball over a net and that's it, but it isn’t. I am going to explain how you can play tennis and a few places where you can play tennis.
Tennis was invented by Walter Clopton Wingfield and in France in the 12th century. Here are some things that you need to play tennis. You need a tennis ball, tennis rackets, and a tennis court to play at. Did you know that tennis balls are either filled with air or nitrogen?
The rules of tennis are that you can only hit the ball with a racket. The goal is to hit the ball over the net that is 3 feet tall. You can actually play tennis at Lake Bluff! And the middle school. You can play tennis through the rec department during the summer.
When you are a beginner they are going to teach the basics. Forehand is the first thing that you will learn as a beginner. To do forehand you need to face the net then here is where it varies on if you are left or right handed. If you are right handed you will turn to the right so you should be at about a 90 degree angle then put your right hand on. Next turn your head forward and just swing when someone serves the ball. Left handed people turn to the left at 90 degrees then put your left hand on, turn your head forward again and swing.
Back hand is the second thing that you will learn. It is the same thing as forehand but you get to use two hands on the racket. Volley is the third thing to learn. The person on the other side of the net will hit the ball high in the air over the net and you need to try to hit the ball back. I had trouble at first but I got better.
Lastly but not least I think most people know what this means but a serve is where someone throws the ball at you and you try to hit it. The main thing that most people struggle with is that you hold the racket with one hand except for when doing back hand.
Here is a quote from Sylvia. “Tennis is a big sport that uses a lot of energy. Since the ball is green, it is very good for your eyes.” If you do tennis for long enough you can possibly be a professional at tennis and play for your country. I played tennis through the rec department during the summer and I met a few people along the way. I enjoyed it and recommend that you try, whether that is during the summer through the rec department or during the school year through something else.
