Michael Moody is the Fine Arts Director at Spring Hill. Previously, he was head band director at New Diana for 3 years and Gladewater for 5 years. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1997 where he received his bachelor’s in music education and is a graduate from Spring Hill HS. While at SFA Mr. Moody was principal saxophonists in the S.F.A. Wind Ensemble, the Swingin’ Aces Jazz Band, the LumberJack Marching Band During his college career, Mr. Moody traveled with the Tom Houston Jazz Band Orchestra and traveled to many musical ventures.
Michael has been a music educator for 23 years in the greater East Texas area. He has studied under many East Texas Band Director Legends such as Glenn Wells, Doice Grant, Harvey Durham, Ronnie Ferguson, Diane Baker and Larry Ward. He has played in the East Texas Symphonic band and still enjoys learning, teaching, and writing music. Thirteen of his former students are now band directors and have careers in music. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his daughter Jaylin and his two dogs.

Kirk Wells is the Head Junior High Band Director at Spring Hill ISD. Previously, he was a band director at Longview, Pine Tree, and Tatum ISD. He is a 2008 graduate from Pine Tree HS where he earned a spot in the TMEA All-State Band. He earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2012. While at SFA Mr. Wells was principal tuba in the S.F.A. Wind Ensemble, member of the Orchestra of the Pines, section leader in the Lumberjack Marching Band, and tuba player for the SFA Student Brass Quintet.
Kirk is beginning his 12th year of teaching band during which time his bands have earned several UIL Sweepstakes awards, and advanced to the final round of the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series. Students under his direction have earned positions in multiple All Region bands as well as superior ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble competition. Throughout his career he has been blessed to work with and have the constant mentorship of many great band directors in the area such as Mark Melton, Don Lawler, Doice Grant, Tommy Moore, and Larry Ward. In addition, he currently plays in East Texas Symphonic Band. He and his wife, Margot, live in Longview with their nine month old daughter Eleanor and their two dogs Sophie and Hudson. In their spare time, they enjoy golfing and spending time with family and friends.

Alexa Silver is currently the 7th grade band director at Spring Hill. A native of Gilmer, TX, she is a recent graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education. While at SFA, Alexa participated in the SFA Wind Ensemble, Orchestra of the Pines, and the Lumberjack Marching Band as a Twirl O Jack.
In her free time, Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and watching Netflix. Her professional associations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Tau Beta Sigma.
