The LiPS program focuses on teaching the children how to distinguish sounds in spoken words.
It is a multi-sensory program which means we are teaching the children to use what they can hear, what they can see their mouth doing, what they can feel their tongue doing and what the letters that match the sounds look like.
The program takes the children through tracking words with lip pictures and with small coloured felt squares. As the children are given a new word, they use all of the senses cues to decide which sound has changed.
This video shows students manipulating consonant / vowel / consonant words.
