How to Get Started:
1️⃣ Reach Out
Begin with a phone call or email to connect with Shine Therapies for Kids. I would love to chat with you! I can answer questions and guide you through the next steps. Shine offers FREE consultations!
2️⃣ Physician Referral
A referral from your child’s physician is required for occupational therapy services. This can often be obtained with your concerns through parent request. I can help you through this step.
3️⃣ Schedule the Evaluation
We’ll set up a time for your child’s evaluation. This appointment is designed to help us learn about your child’s unique needs.
4️⃣ The Evaluation Process
During the evaluation (about 1 hour), I will:
Talk with you about your child’s history and current concerns.
Observe your child’s functional performance.
Use standardized assessments to gain further information and obtain a baseline of skills.
5️⃣ Moving Forward
After the evaluation, we’ll discuss next steps and recommendations tailored to your child and the needs of your family. You will be provided a written document with the evaluation results as well as a plan for the next steps. This could include ideas and suggestions to support your child, more specific home programming, individualized direct OT services, or outside referrals.
