“To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; Study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.” — Leonardo Da Vinci
What is STEAM?
STEAM is an interdisciplinary approach to education that intertwines science, technology, engineering, art, and math. This allows students to use creative and critical thinking skills to find new solutions to real world situations. Children work in teams and independently to engage in hands-on activities designed by the afterschool program staff. Students explore real-world challenges, develop problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper understanding of how these disciplines shape the world around us. It's learning that’s both fun and impactful!
How we incorporate STEAM based education at program each day:
Site Coordinators and Susquehanna University Service Leaders develop unique STEAM projects and activities for use at program. These developmentally appropriate activities involve hands-on learning experiences designed specifically to supplement students' in-school learning. Staff ensure all activities are safe and fun for all!
