If you decide that you would like to apply to study at university after sixth form, and have found the courses and institutions you would like to apply to:
NB if you plan to apply by the 15th October deadline, please make sure the sixth form team and your teachers are aware so you can be prioritised for grade discussions and support with your application form.
Complete your application form by October half term : You must first complete your UCAS application form using this 'how to' guide.
Make sure you qualify for the course: Before you can make your application, you will need to ensure that the entry requirements for the course you wish to apply for fits the UCAS predictions your teachers have set you. If you would like to apply to discuss your UCAS prediction follow this short 'how to' guide. Remember, you must speak to a member of the sixth form team about the subjects you are appealing and what your plan of action is, before the sixth form team will present your case to your teacher.
Personal statement first draft to your form tutor: Finish your first draft of your personal statement (don't forget to look over the support resources on the Next Steps Day page!) and speak to your form tutor who will read this through and give you feedback.
Request your UCAS reference from your form tutor: Once both you and your form tutor have agreed that your personal statement is ready, your form tutor will complete your reference for you. This will consist of your teachers' comments about the skills and habits you have demonstrated on your A level courses in support of your university application. You must request your reference before 1st December. If your request is made after this date we cannot guarantee your application will be processed and submitted to UCAS before the Christmas holiday.
Pay your UCAS admin fee online - don't worry, this will not send your application form to UCAS. Your application can only be sent off by one of the sixth form team following your final checking meeting.
Visit RAO and see Mrs Houghton or Mrs Griffin to check the details you have entered on UCAS: Your application form, and in particular your qualifications, will need to be checked against our records before your application can be sent. Try and come as early as you can; there are lots of students to see and the queue will get longer the nearer to Christmas you leave this!
Submit to UCAS: We will be with you when we click send and we wish you the best of luck in your application!
