Where can I find information about the Shen MS Libraries?
The librarians maintain the MS Library website. This page is a great place to check for upcoming events, see what the MS Librarians are reading, access the online catalogs, online book resources, reader’s advisory tools, databases, citation tools, and project resources pages for research assignments, etc.
When can my child come to the MS Libraries?
Students may use the libraries during study hall. A pass from a teacher or study hall monitor is required. Students must report to study hall first, and present their pass. They must also return to study hall before the end of the block.
Students may also visit the library during their FLEX time, assuming they don’t have to meet with a teacher for extra help or to make-up an assignment/test. Students must report to FLEX first.
Libraries are open for students Block 0 from 8:00am-8:40am. A pass is not required before school. We are open after school from 3:35 - 4:00.
What library can students visit?
All students can visit any library. Students may check out a book from any library and return books to any library.
How many libraries are there?
There are 2 libraries in the tribuilding complex. One is located in Gowana by the main entrance, and the other is in Acadia by the Acadia front doors.
Where can I find the SORA ebooks and NY Reads ebooks?
SORA:
On the MS Library website. Students may sign in with their @shenschools.org email.

What kind of materials do the libraries have?
The MS libraries offer an extensive collection of diverse materials. This includes fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, manga, Playaways, magazines, Orca short stories, e-books through SORA, etc.
How many books can students check out?
Students may check out up to 5 books. Holds may be placed on books at the circulation desk in each library. Students may keep their books for up to 3 weeks. The only exception is graphic novels and manga, which have a 1-week circulation period.
Can students renew materials?
Students may also renew materials if there are no holds on the item(s). They may have the item(s) for an additional 3 weeks if needed.
