Welcome to an overview of science and the art of observing the world around you
This year science is centered on Earth Studies and covers the topics of Astronomy (Space: Mission ⊕☽⊙: Sun-Earth-Moon ), Meteorology (Atmosphere: Mission Earth Dome), Geology (Earth's Interior: Mission Subterranean & Exterior: Mission Back to the Future) and the Human Impacts on these systems. I have divided each of these into one of the four quarters and will move through the topics in the order listed above, except that the Human Impacts Project will be developed throughout the year and we will address those NYS science standards as we go along
To become aware of how they learn and how to become better learners.
To begin participating in the daily routines that good thinkers and scientists use to come up with solid reasons and explanations.
To become active mistake makers, while getting feedback from friends, family teachers and accountability partners.
During this Challenge I want you to think about yourself as a growing learner and scientist. What do we know about learning? Actually we know a lot!
For example, did you know that...
there is no limit to how much you can learn?
there is no reason a muscle needs to stop, your brain just convinces you that you are tired!
