Students who are accepted into NJHS will be inducted in the spring and will be active members of the NJHS throughout their 8th grade year. As active members, students will take part in many activities both in their school and community such as nursing home visits, walkathons, and food drives. They will also be responsible for attending a required number of meetings and events throughout their 8th grade year.

An opportunity to apply for NJHS will be open to all 7th grade students who achieve a cumulative average of 93% or better for the first year and a half of middle school (6th grade and the first 2 quarters of 7th grade). As part of the application, students will have to demonstrate that they have completed community service activities. In order to receive credit, activities must be fulfilled through an actual organization such as a church/temple, nursing home, hospital, Red Cross, etc… Examples of community service activities may include: working in the food pantry, helping out at a clothing drive, volunteering in a hospital, etc…

If NJHS is something you would like to pursue, the summer is a wonderful time to complete the community service section of the application. Below, please find a log to fill out as you work on fulfilling the required community service experiences. After each event, please make sure you have the person in charge sign off in the place indicated on the attached log in order to receive credit for your service. Students should save the attached log and submit it as a portion of their application. Please note that the completion of service hours does not mean you will automatically be accepted into NJHS. This is only one aspect of the application.

After the second marking period (sometime in February), all academically qualified students will be invited to attend an informational meeting regarding the application process for NJHS. We hope you are as excited as we are about National Junior Honor Society. As always, thank you for your continued dedication and support. We look forward to seeing many of you this winter at the informational meeting.
