Over the course of twenty weeks, students will engage in a comprehensive health education program that is part of a progressive curriculum spanning grades K-12.
Our approach to health education is designed to develop essential skills in alignment with New York State’s Navigate by the Stars curriculum, as well as state and national standards.

Welcome to Our Classroom!
We are excited to share important information about how we will be organizing and sharing class materials through our Google Classroom platform. Our goal is to provide a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
In the "Classwork" tab of Google Classroom, you will find a variety of resources including:
ASSIGNMENTS: These are graded assignments with due dates
NOTES: These are class notes for the lesson we just completed to help students who were absent and to assist with assigned work
CHOICE BOARDS: These are sometimes graded work (labeled as an assignment) and are sometimes extension activities
Assignments will automatically sync to your Google Calendar for easy organization. Feel free to also use a paper agenda if that method works best for you.
We encourage students to check Google Classroom regularly throughout the week to stay updated on assignments and announcements.
To stay organized, students will need a binder, section of a binder, or a folder to keep handouts and class materials neatly stored.
Thank you for being a part of our inclusive and supportive learning community!
ATTENDANCE & GRADING POLICY
At our school, we value every student's learning journey and aim to support their success in a positive and inclusive environment. Here is important information regarding absences and grading:
ABSENCES
Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by checking Google Classroom promptly for any missed work.
It is important for students to make up missed assignments and reach out to the teacher if additional support is needed.
GRADING
Grades are determined by the completion of classwork and assessments, emphasizing student achievement and progress.
It is important to recognize that the timely submission of assignments plays a crucial role in the learning process. Students are encouraged to submit their work on time as it not only reflects responsibility but also enhances their understanding and retention of the material.
Late submissions may impact grades, serving as a reminder of the value of timely completion in fostering continuous learning and academic growth.
Courses are graded on a numerical scale with a passing grade set at 65%.
Grades will be converted to a 0-5 scale, with corresponding performance level descriptions provided below:
5 = 100%
4 = 95%
3 = 85%
2 = 75%
1 = 65%
0 = Not Yet Learned
Important Note:
Each quarter contributes 50% towards a student's final grade, highlighting the significance of consistent effort and progress throughout the term.
We believe that clear communication and collaboration between students and teachers are key to achieving academic success. Thank you for being an important part of our learning community!
