Nutmeg Book Awards

"The Nutmeg Book Award encourages children in grades 2-12 to read quality literature

and to choose their favorite from a list of nominated titles."

The Nutmeg Book Award is a Connecticut book contest held annually.  Book nominees in various age categories are selected and student vote determines the winners.  ESS students in second, third, and fourth grade will be eligible to read one or more of the books in the list and then be able to vote in Spring 2024 for their favorite Nutmeg nominated title.  We will have voting in the ESS Library Media Center.  The book that wins the award is determined by the students in all Connecticut schools.

Our ESS Library Media Center owns copies of all books on the Elementary list. The Shelton Public Library owns all Nutmeg books in each list.  All 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade students are encouraged to borrow these titles to read so that they can vote for their favorite book!
