About Mr. D
I am a native of Mobile, and I have known that I wanted to be a math teacher since I was 16 years old.Â
I have a BS from the University of Mobile ('08) & an M.Ed. from the University of Montevallo ('19), both in Mathematics Education.
I am starting year 16 in education, with this being my 8th year in Shelby County Schools. My previous years include Faith Academy (Mobile), Minor High (Jefferson County), Thompson High (Alabaster City), & Calera Middle (Shelby County). I am thrilled to continue my time in #HuskyNation this year!
I married my wife, Rebekah, in April, 2012. We have a 7-year old, HWD, who has been with our family since he was 2 weeks old. He is in 2nd grade at HES and loves being a Husky. In February 2021, we welcomed the newest member of our family, WRD, who also joined us through the miracle of adoption. Her favorite things are the pool, all carbs, and trying to sleep through the night. I love spending time with my family doing the small things like playing dominoes and Sunday evening runs to Sonic for cranberry limeade!
I read a lot, but Harry Potter is my favorite. I think podcasts and audio books are magical with hot tea or decaf coffee. I run half marathons and consider new running socks a small, simple luxury. I am a very amateur knitter and cross stitcher, and I think pop culture cross stitch patterns are hilarious.
