Work-Based Learning, formerly Cooperative Education, is a structured component of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum that integrates classroom instruction with productive, progressive, supervised, work-based experiences related to student’s career objectives. Content is planned for students through a cooperative arrangement between the school and the employer as a component of work-based learning.
Be a junior or senior and have successfully completed at least 1 Career and Technical Education Course.
Complete a cooperative education application and provide a copy of your transcript and the names of three teachers.
Have at least a 2.0 GPA, good school attendance, and a good discipline record.
Work at LEAST 10 hours per week, PAID EMPLOYMENT, in an approved work site (140 minimum documented hours each semester).
Cooperative education workstations must be provided by a licensed enterprise outside of the home with a direct supervisor and must be within 18 miles of the school. If the worksite exceeds 18 miles of your school, prior permission must be granted.
Students are strongly encouraged NOT to work for family members. Students must receive prior permission to work for parents or relatives and must directly report to a non-family member.
Abide by all cooperative education rules and document work hours with a paycheck stub or print-out. Copies of checks are not acceptable.
