Tuesday

The Moon--What is it?

Students will define the moon as the Earth's natural satellite.

Wednesday

The Moon--How does it move?

Students will model how the moon moves.

*Gold Assignment--Students will complete a model showing the rotation and revolution of the Earth and Moon. Due: 10/25

Thursday

The Moon--phases

Students will explore what causes the moon's phases.

Friday

The Moon--phases

Students will model what causes the moon's phases.

Moon Phases Homework due today to Schoology.

Week of 9/8-11

What causes the seasons?

I can demonstrate how Earth is tilted on its axis and that this tilt, by affecting the

angle of incidence of sunlight, is responsible for the seasons.

Tuesday

Rotation/Revolution Quiz

Intro to the Seasons

Students will take a vocabulary quiz on rotation vs. revolution.

Students will preview what they already know about the seasons.

Wednesday

What causes seasons?

Students will model how Earth's tilt on its axis affects the amount of sunlight that hits different parts of the Earth.

Thursday & Friday

Students will complete an Escape Room about seasons.

Week of 8/31-9/4

Rotate and Revolve

I can demonstrate the rotation and revolution of the earth around the sun.

Monday

Students will define rotation and revolution.

Tuesday

Students will review appropriate web behavior and e-mail procedures.

Students will send an e-mail to Mrs. Russell to practice proper netiquette.

Wednesday

Students will Complete "Rotation and Revolution-Read It"

Thursday

Students will complete "Rotation and Revolution-Watch It" and complete card sort.

Friday

Students will identify an example of a rotation and revolution and submit to Schoology.

Week of 8/24-28

Scale of the Sun, Earth, and Moon

I can examine the diameters of the Sun. Earth and Moon, and their relative distances from one another.

Monday

Students will create a scale model of the size of the Sun, Earth and Moon.

Tuesday

Students will accurately scale the distances between the Sun, Earth and Moon.

Wednesday

Analysis of Scale Models

Student will answer questions about the scale model that we create in class.

Thursday

Read "The Sun's Structure and Function"

Complete "Practice It"

in Schoology.
