Archery

The Montevallo schools have a long history of success with competitions in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) coordinated by the Alabama Department of Conservation.and Natural Resources. Montevallo High last competed in the Spring of 2017 and now we hope to revitalize this program with the goal of competing once again 2019. In order to have a team, we must have at least twelve (12) students and the team must have at least four (4) members of the opposite gender (For example: If you have a twelve member team, you would need at least eight girls and four boys, or vice-versa.)

Classes, composed of at least ten (10) hours of training, to teach archery basics and safety will be required and conducted after school. Costs for participation will be kept a minimum and Montevallo High School has much of the equipment necessary for anyone who is interested. Nominal fee items may be required to cover the cost of team t-shirts, arrows, entry fees, and transportation. If someone wishes to use or purchase their own bow, please be aware that only stock (original) unmodified Genesis bows are allowed at NASP competitions.
