Go on a Scavenger Hunt - Give your student a list of things they can find around the house. See how quickly they can find all the items and bring them to you. Here is a link to download picture scavenger hunt lists to use at home.
Play Simon Says - This is a great game for following directions and developing listening skills.
Songs/Fingerplays - The Itsy Bitsy Spider, Pat-a-Cake, Ring Around the Rosie. These are all great activities to develop oral language skills, imagination, and engagement. Here is a link to 25 fingerplays to try with your student at home, with videos.
Speech Sound Scavenger Hunt - For students working on articulation, scavenger hunts can be a great tool to build phonemic awareness. Walk around the house and have your student name items that begin with their target sound, or a parent/sibling can name items and have the student identify if the beginning sound is the same as their target sound.
Play a Board Game - Board games aid in language development by teaching your student turn taking, following directions, color identification, counting, vocabulary expansion, and more.
