COURSE DESCRIPTION: A broad course that explores the application of tools, materials, and energy in designing, producing, using, and assessing manufactured products. Students will explore techniques used to apply technology in obtaining resources and in changing them into industrial materials and finished products. Student will learn how a basic manufacturing system works, learn the steps in designing a basic enterprise system, be introduced to the universal system model, mass produce a product to sell to the public, be introduced to machines such as the drill press, table saw, and band saw, learn how a product is designed and sold, work with materials such as wood, metal, and plastic, produce a custom manufactured product.
