The past few weeks we have worked hard to get back into a routine, and I hope your students are starting to feel settled into the year. 

The deadline for schedule changes has passed, and I have checked students' transcripts to make sure they are placed correctly to earn their credits for graduation. Throughout the next month, I will be doing a few things in my role as your student's school counselor. 

I will be checking in to classes with each grade to introduce (or re-introduce) myself and let students know what support they can receive from me, as well as how to schedule a time to meet with me. I will also introduce the spreadsheet of scholarships, descriptions, and due dates to the seniors at this time. 

Mrs. Fisher and I will be taking juniors and seniors to the college and career fair in Conrad on September 24. This exposes students to post-graduation options including colleges, training programs, and potential careers. Following this, I will meet with each of the seniors to discuss their goals for the year as well as after graduation. 

Mrs. Fisher and I have also been working to get different guests into the JMG classroom to talk to our seniors about post-grad options. We will work together to support student throughout the year in their post-grad endeavors, whether it be applying to college and applying for/receiving financial aid, learning about training programs, or preparing to enter the workforce. 

At the end of the month, we will be offering a mental health screening for our students. A letter with an option to opt-out was mailed home and emailed on September 11, and can be returned to Mrs. Watterud by September 21 if you choose to opt your student out of the screening.
