As we move into the final two months of the school year, there are a few things I want to touch on--as this time of year can be so busy!
Seniors-- Scholarship season is in full swing! Please refer to the spreadsheet in the JMG Google Classroom for due dates, award amounts, and eligibility/application information. Stop by my office if you have any questions! Senior awards night will be on May 14 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium, after the Junior/Senior banquet.
Teen Mental Health First Aid training is halfway complete, and I am so proud of our 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students for taking this topic so seriously and engaging in learning about how to support their peers.
Over the next few weeks, we will be offering a mental health screening for our students. A letter with an option to opt-out was mailed home and emailed on April 7, and can be returned to Mrs. Watterud by April 14 if you choose to opt your student out of the screening. Any student who was opted out in the fall will also not be screened this spring. More information about the screening is linked below.
I'm Ronnie Watterud, the 6-12 school counselor. I've been in education since 2015. I worked for 8 years as a teacher before I shifted to a school counselor role in 2023. I enjoy spending time with my husband, three kids, and two dogs, as well as reading, baking, and traveling around the state! I'm honored to be working in Shelby with great colleagues, students, and families.
I'm here for all students to support them in their academics, post-graduation plans, and mental health and wellness. The best way for students to meet with me would be to make an appointment by email or through the google form, so I can make sure I am available for them!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns!
