The project was ethically approved, the team was put together, and the project begun. A rapid review was undertaken to review the current literature and identify any issues or areas of focus. This literature review will provided some guidance for any questions we wanted to include in the interviews.
The interview questions were developed as a team, bringing different perspectives and expertise together to ensure the questions were appropriate, relevant, and interesting. The interview questions were put into easy-read for the interviewers and for participants. This was a really exciting time and the questions went through a lot of edits.
The interviews will be undertaken between the researchers and participants. We aim to produce supportive, safe environments for our participants, to ensure everyone has a good experience within the interviews. We did 48 interviews in total.
The interviews will be transcribed and then the task begins of looking at what people said and what they thought about the questions. The team will come together on this. This part will run alongside the interviews.
This is the step we are currently on!
The results will demonstrate what sort of support and resources would be wanted by people with learning disabilities and carers, and we as a team aim to produce and supply some resources based on our results.
The research will be discussed throughout on our social media (tweet at us!) but afterwards, the information will be disseminated throughout the research community with more detail!Â
