The university formally releases module and programme results and grades online on set dates during the year; for instance, undergraduate results are released in early March, early July and early September. Results released by the university will have been checked and processed by the school, by the central university Student Results and Awards team and by a Faculty Officer.
Module and year examiners assess submitted work and undertake various forms of benchmarking and moderation before considering results at ‘internal’ exam boards, consisting of school staff and academic colleagues from dual-degree departments and ‘external’ exam boards which also include external examiners from academia or the profession, appointed to each programme.
In addition to school exam boards, results are scrutinized by members of the university’s Student Administration Service and a Faculty Officer who must formally sign-off results to verify that they are satisfied that the recorded results are correct before any results may be formally issued.
When the university releases results they appear on a student’s online record. Any marks, grades or results that are provided by the school in any form in advance of the university’s formal release of results are provisional and may be subject to change, i.e. marks could go up or down, at any time. This notice overrides any information to the contrary that might be provided in any module handbooks or other material.
