Dr. Shubham Jain is a Research Associate in the Chemical and Biological Department at the University of Sheffield. He is currently working on a project focused on the valorization of industrial waste for the development of sustainable cementitious systems, funded by GreenLithium.

Prior to his current role, Shubham worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2023) in the Civil Engineering department at the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Canada. During this period, Shubham’s work was focused on sustainable cement and geopolymer-based coatings to enhance bio-corrosion resistance in sewage infrastructure. Shubham obtained his Ph.D. degree in Materials Engineering (2022) from UBC, with his doctoral dissertation centered on ‘Fly ash-based geopolymers for the immobilization of nuclear waste containing cesium’. Shubham holds his M.Tech. and B.Tech degrees (Integrated Dual Degree) in Ceramic Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT BHU), Varanasi. Shubham is passionate about sustainability and the circular economy, and his expertise lies in low-carbon cement & concrete systems (especially geopolymers), nuclear waste immobilization, and advanced ceramics.
