Rebecca is a PhD researcher in the School of Chemical Materials and Biological Engineering at the University of Sheffield. She was funded through the EPSRC SATURN CDT, which aims to develop the research required to equip the UK for the Nuclear Renaissance and is working in collaboration with the UK Environment Agency (EA). She is supervised by Dr Fanran Meng and Prof. Brant Walkley at the University of Sheffield, Tracy Braithwaite at the EA.
Rebecca completed an Integrated Master's degree in Natural Science with specialties in Chemistry and Mathematics at Loughborough University. During her degree, she completed a year in industry working in operational and technical support at the Heysham 2 nuclear power plant, this is where she developed her interest in nuclear power.
Rebecca's research investigates the environmental, social, and economic impact of nuclear
decommissioning to further understand changes that could be made to introduce circularity and the circular economy into the nuclear life cycle.
