Kyle O'Donoghue

PhD Researcher (2021-2025)

Kyle is a PhD researcher in the department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The University of Sheffield, UK. He is supervised by Dr Brant Walkley and Professor John Provis, and is a member of the Sustainable Materials at Sheffield  team. Kyle also has industrial supervision from National Nuclear Laboratory.

Kyle obtained his Masters degree in Chemical Engineering with Nuclear Technology with first class honours from the University of Sheffield in 2021. In his final year, he undertook a research project focusing on the reaction mechanisms and kinetics of radioiodine-loaded geopolymer cement wasteforms.

Kyle’s PhD research aims to investigate the suitability of geopolymers for use as wasteforms in the nuclear industry, and is funded by an EPSRC DTP scholarship. Kyle is also a Grantham Scholar, as part the training programme at the Grantham Centre for Sustainable Futures.
