PhD Researcher (2019-2022)

Ademola was a PhD researcher in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering  at the University of Sheffield, UK. He was co-supervised by Dr Brant Walkley, and was a member of both the Functional Materials and Devices (MSE, where he is supervised by Professor Ian M. Reaney) and Sustainable Materials at Sheffield (CBE) research teams. Ademola was an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.

Ademola’s research focused on the design of new materials for next generation Na-ion solid state batteries.  He was fascinated by interdisciplinary research that can promote energy storage and generation. He won the prestigious and competitive Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) to further his Doctoral studies in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Adetona attended University of Lagos, Nigeria where he graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry in the year 2014. Owing to his outstanding performance, he was immediately employed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant by the University of Lagos, Nigeria. His master’s degree in Chemistry was fully sponsored by the University of Lagos, Nigeria. After obtaining his master’s degree from the Department of Chemistry, University of Lagos, he was promoted to the rank of an Assistant Lecturer. His master’s thesis title “Sol-gel synthesis of NiO nanoparticles for energy applications” was presented at the 12th Unilag Annual Research Conference and Fair 2017.
