The Centre of Expertise for Thermal and Immobilisation was awarded to a consortium comprising academics from The University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, and The University of Bristol, to address Technical and Engineering Challenges in Thermal

Treatment and Immobilisation.

The project utilises the significant experience of the consortium to provide research-led solutions to the nuclear industry in immobilisation of radioactive waste, in addition to generating solutions for the wider glass, ceramic, and cement industries, and their associated supply chains.
