The Sheffield Universities' Military Education Committee is a sub-committee of the Sheffield University Senate Education Committee and of the Education, Quality and Student Experience Committee at Sheffield Hallam.
The Universities of Sheffield Military Education Committee is a joint Committee of the University of Sheffield (UoS) and Sheffield Hallam University (SHU).
It meets twice a year and reports to the UoS Senate Education Committee and the SHU Student Experience Committee.
It acts as a link between the UoS, SHU and the three Service Units with Sheffield student members (Sheffield Universities Officers’ Training Corps, Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron, and Yorkshire Universities Royal Naval Unit).
It supports students in the Service Units in their aim to acquire military and leadership skills, which contribute to their personal development and employability. It aims to ensure that students’ participation in military activities does not have a negative impact on their wellbeing or academic studies. The Committee receives interim and annual reports from the Commanding Officers of each Service Unit and regular presentations from Students, which provide the Committee with oversight of student experience and the activities they undertake.
Full details of the Sheffield Military Education Committee can be found on the Terms of Reference.
