Footasylum announced as Sheffield Varsity sponsors

28 February 2019

Sheffield Varsity proudly announce a new sponsor partnership with leading sports retailer Footasylum, celebrated with an exclusive discount code for all Sheffield students, to be released from the Hallam Hubs and University of Sheffield Students' Union on 4 March.

Footasylum have 70 retail stores across the UK and a huge online shopping business where they champion the latest sportswear and streetwear fashion releases from global giants Nike and Adidas and fresh new brands including Kings Will Dream and Jameson Carter.

This week's announcement that Footasylum will be sponsoring Sheffield Varsity 2019 is a major coup for the largest university sporting competition in Sheffield. Footasylum join City Taxis, Fortis Student Living and Endsleigh as official sponsors and alongside their contribution to fixtures, they have already committed to providing an exclusive Footasylum discount code for students from both Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Sheffield.

As ever, the BIG FIVE Sheffield Varsity events are ticketed this year and following the ticket release dates earlier this month, the ice hockey final at FlyDSA Arena and boxing at the Octagon Centre has already sold out. As part of this new university sporting partnership, Sheffield Hallam Students' Union (The Hubs) and the University of Sheffield Students' Union Box Office are co-hosting a Sheffield Varsity Day with Footasylum on 4 March. On this day, between 10.00am and 5.00pm, students can pick up their Footasylum discount codes alongside remaining Sheffield Varsity tickets for football, Sports Park Day and ice hockey twos. And don't worry if you've already got your tickets sorted, existing ticket holders can also pick up their Footasylum discount codes from The Hubs and SU on 4 March.

Former Sheffield Hallam student Howard Tattersall, Senior Marketing Manager at Footasylum said, "We are excited to be sponsoring Sheffield Varsity this year and to get involved with the whole Varsity journey. Having attended Varsity myself as a student, I know how great the event is and it's something Footasylum is proud to be part of."

Now in its twenty-third year, the annual Sheffield Varsity series is the most anticipated homegrown sporting event in the University calendar and the biggest university sporting event in the city. Following the early snowsports fixtures, which took place in Val Thorens over the Christmas break, the last two weeks in March will see thousands of students compete at 18 venues in and around Sheffield to the delight of more than 15,000 spectators.

Sheffield Varsity thanks City Taxis, Fortis Student Living, Endsleigh and Footasylum for sponsoring Varsity 2019, the official media partner Forge Sport, the volunteers and staff that make this annual celebration of sport possible, and welcomes this year's competitors and spectators.
