Formed in 1916 at the University of Sheffield by Dr W.E.S Turner, the Society of Glass Technology (SGT) publishes journals and textbooks, organises conferences and coordinates special interest groups with the aim of advancing glass technology. In addition to collaboration and publication, the Society is the custodian of a number of printed collections held at the University of Sheffield.
