The long week is done, time to make the Steel City black and gold…

17 February 2018

The Sheffield Sabres ended their long week with a win against Leeds, with the game ending at a comfortable 36-14 to the home side. The Sabres offense started strong, scoring two early touchdowns and a field goal, looking like the game had been secured. Leeds, who were fighting to prevent relegation, hit back hard, scoring two of their own touchdowns and leaving the score 16-14. The Sabres took over in the second half, not allowing the Gryphons to score again and tacking on some more points themselves.

After coming off a serious high from the long week, the Black and Gold army will look towards the Warriors, for the first of their final two fixtures. On paper, Hallam look to be the underdogs, as comparatively their season has taken a turn for the worse since the restart in January. However, this is the second fight of the year for the Steel City, and Hallam will not go down without a fight. For the past years, Hallam have continually dominated this fixture, but the Sabres will be looking to paint the city Black and Gold coming off two wins in five days.

This is sure to be a tough fixture for both sides and neither one should be counted out, for different reasons. The game will take place at Hallam Sports Park in a late kick off (3pm). It’s sure to be an exciting one and maybe it’s time for the city to bleed black and gold…
